“Tyler had been leading our wildlife group throughout a difficult season, and is consistently providing support to everyone on the team. He makes sure that interesting opportunities are offered to all team members, and is always bringing new knowledge to us to share (e.g. what he has learned about a new way to differentiate tracks of similar species). Since I mostly am a crew lead these days, I rarely get the chance to be mentored, so it’s been a real pleasure to work alongside someone with so much knowledge and curiosity.

Tyler also has wonderful calming energy that helps our crew handle adversity. He makes us feel that everything is under control and within our capacity to handle. He is an example of how the best leaders are not always the loudest person in the room, but sometimes the thoughtful person who says more with fewer words. He is universally liked, and provides everyone with support. He has also been excellent at checking in with the crew to make sure we are working safely and feeling good. His style of leadership has helped our team work in harmony, and has pushed us all to develop new skills and knowledge while staying safe. It also appears to inspire confidence from the client, as they can sense he can be trusted to guide us to do the job well, and safely.
